Orlando
Discovery Cove, SeaWorld, and Disney's Animal Kingdom, all while staying in our motorhome at a Florida State Park.
We decided to stop in Orlando for a few days after our Brownstone Conference and Gala in Miami.
Having never been to Disney World we figured it would be a good time to try it out.
We stayed at Lake Louisa State Park. We've found state parks to be great places for motorhome stays.
I had purchased a Wagyu Flat Iron steak back in Panama City Beach. When we got to the park it was time to try it out. AMAZING! This is the best steak I've ever had, and I never even heard of flat irons before.
The next day we went to Discovery Cove. It's owned by Seaworld and is an all inclusive park where you get to experience dolphins and fish and fun activities. We had a blast.
We rented a little day bed tent so we had a nice place to relax.
Time to swim with the dolphins. These have been my favorite animals since I was about 10 years old. Super fun to finally touch one and interact with it.
Our favorite activity was the SeaVenture. You go underwater with a dive helmet on. About as close to scuba as you can get, without having to get certified.
The next day we went to SeaWorld. Mitzi loved the roller coasters. I was able to get a few pictures of her. I can't do them because I get vertigo, sad.
This fellow in the yellow shirt was the dad of two kids. He seemed a little out of place with his pants hanging down and his Fruit of the Loom underwear so visible. I snuck a picture, making it look like I was taking a picture of Mitzi haha.
We had dinner at the Shark's Underwater Grill.
We ate fish while fish were swimming around watching us eat fish.
The scallops were amazing!
Mitzi took a walk along Dixie Lake around sunset.
The next day we headed over to Disney's Animal Kingdom.
It was amazing to see the detail and artistry. We found a little snack shack in the Asia area and had some chicken dumplings and curried fries. This was Mitzi's favorite food of the day, really hit the spot.
We watched the Lion King show. Impressive!
We waited for about 1.5 hours for the Avatar experience. We weren't sure what to expect. Literrally had no idea. I was wondering about an hour in if this was going to be worth it.
We finally made it to the 4.5 minute ride.
I didn't get any pictures once the ride started but must say the best part was watching Mitzi's expression of joy and exhilaration.
I had to keep looking over at her. Pure joy and exhilaration, I can't think of another way to describe it. A beautiful sight to behold.
After the Avatar ride we were a little hungry. Even though we had a dinner reservation in a couple hours we went to Yak & Yeti for some Chicken Tikka Masala. It totally hit the spot.
Then we took a train ride on an India train. It was definatly rickitty and the conductor kept telling people to keep their backs on the seats so they wouldn't get hurt!
We then headed over to Tiffin's for our dinner reservation.
The presentation was amazing. The food was amazing. A really great dining experience.
We remarked how the day would have been so much different if we had done this when we were younger and had our children with us. We decided that this was best done with just to the two of us haha.
The next morning we drove back home. Mitzi got a good stretch in on the picnic table before the 5 hour drive.
What a fun experience in Orlando!
