New York City & Father's Day 2024
A very quick visit to New York City and celebrating Father's Day.
As our transatlantic crossing came to a finish we crossed under the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, sailed past the Statue of Liberty as we had breakfast, and berthed in Brooklyn.
So long Queen Mary 2.
We got a ride from the cruise terminal to our hotel in Midtown.
Mitzi went out to do some shopping and sightseeing while I rested in the hotel room.
We celebrated Father's Day a day early by going to Fogo de ChaƵ for an afternoon meal. I love this place. Rice and beans, wood fired meat, and cheese rolls. Gives me feelings of happiness.
It's surprising how much less I can eat as I get older. I used to have 4 plate fulls of food here. This time, only one and I was full.
It was a wonderful meal.
Of course there is scaffolding in front of the restaurant. New York City has decided permanent scaffolding is okay. It's everywhere and it seems like once it goes up, it never comes down.
We went to the Neil Diamond musical A Beautiful Noise. So many songs are recognizable and we enjoyed the nostalgia of going back in time.
The next day we were saying goodbye (Mitzi is going to Utah to help Maddy with a minor surgery, I'm heading home to Florida to keep building the new BasilBooks and to get organized after we've been away for 3 months).
We grabbed an early lunch at Carnegie Deli. I just wanted a pastrami sandwich and New York style Cheesecake. They delivered perfectly.
We can't believe our trip is over. Such a wonderful time, so many experiences, so much living and loving life.
Mitzi, thanks for going on these crazy adventures with me. I love traveling with you. You are a wonderful travel friend, lover, and foodie :)
