Montevideo, Uruguay

We arrived in Montevideo, Uruguay this morning in port. Right across from us is this boat 'junk yard'. Beautiful in a way.

The SilverSea Whisper was docked next to us. That's a pretty high end line right there! Mitzi doing her homework on the balcony.

When we got of the ship and walked out of the port, we did some shopping.

We found these tiny jars of Dulce de Leche.

As we were walking by this restaurant I smelled a wood fire with meat roasting on it. I said to Mitzi, "Wow that smells good, let's eat!"

It was a wonderful meal.

These empanadas were crispy outside and saucy inside. I think they were the best we've ever had.

I got picanha steak. What I caught a scent of on the street.

We had a birthday cake dessert for Brandon's birthday. He would have been 52 years old today.

Our server was really kind to us, he couldn't speak English and we couldn't speak Spanish.

We bought some beautiful leather stools and a few other things and Mitzi was carrying all of it, me nothing. That orange backpack she's wearing weight about 30 pounds with all that Dulce de Leche in it! She tends to carry things like a pack horse and I have to really stay on my game to grab things or she'll take it all and not even mention it 😄

That statue was made in 1930 and represents the hard working men who would load and unload the container ships by hand. Now it's all done by machine. What a tough job they had. Strong men!

Mitzi was too full for dinner so I went up alone. We almost always eat on the back deck on level 12. The weather has been beautiful almost every day and we love it up there.

I couldn't decide between color and b&w so ... posting both!

Mitzi bought this beautiful hat, looks very Australian.

We are just really impressed with Uruguay. It's completely surpassed our expectations and we've thorough enjoyed it. Lucky to be coming back to Montevideo on Wednesday after being in Buenos Aires for the next two days.
