Lima, Peru
We walk through crazy Lima and come out alive. Our expected Machu Picchu visit ended up being this photo on a wall.
We berthed in Lima, Peru this morning. Technically is the port of Callao. Oceania provided shuttle busses for a 45-60 minute drive to what is called Inka Market. A huge complex where hundreds of vendors sell Peruvian arts and crafts.
Mitzi found some baby alpaca hair hats and scarves. We had a nice time walking around.
Then we headed out for a 2 kilometer walk to a grocery store that hopefully had canned sardines. I've been eating them, one can a day, for health reasons. Oceania has been providing them but the last batch was in sunflower oil and I need them in olive oil.
It provided a good excuse for walking 4 kilometers. They had two kinds of sardines and one was in olive oil so, score!
The walk was kind of crazy though. Pedestrians have not rights here, unlike Chile where they were so polite. Here you are taking your life into your hands crossing the street!
On the walk back I asked Mitzi to pose by this Surquillo sign as we were walking through that part of the city.
She leaned over to pose and immediately one of the men drivers behind made some really loud cat calls. Nice!

One our way back we passed this outdoor market. Beautiful fresh produce! Beautiful fresh chicken heads and chicken feet!

As we got back to Inka Market this little girl whose mom worked in one of the shops was at her limits.
We were supposed to go on an overland tour to Machu Picchu but found out at the last minute that we couldn't go, even though they told we could earlier.
Oh well. So this picture was as close as we got!

We still had a nice time in Lima, getting some walking in and playing real life frogger.
