Ilha Grande, Brasil

We spend a few hours at Ilha Grande, Brasil. Other than a dog pooping next to us on the beach, we had a great time! And even the dog poop wasn't too bad :)

Ilha Grande, Brasil

We'd never heard of Ilha Grande (Big Island) before. We loved it here. They don't allow motor vehicles, and they've left the island almost completely void of development so it's in the natural state.

It was very peaceful. A small place, not too many people, very calm.

This first picture is just a random picture of our cabin as we were getting ready for the day. Sometimes it's fun to see the mundane and remember the things that didn't stand out.

We do love this suite. It's very functional and has everything we could need and want. Mitzi has here sewing machine setup. I have my computer setup. We get a long great in small spaces.

We got a tender to the island and given my hunger not eating yet Mitzi was nice and went along with getting to a restaurant as our first order of business.

We went to Badjeco by the water.

I ordered the steak and rice and beans. The only thing I love more than that is chicken and rice and beans :)

The problem was the portion was sized for two. Mitzi got calamari (did I fail to get a picture?). I ate half of the steak and this will sounds strange to Americans, but the staff was really happy to take the rest into the back and enjoy it.

We walked the streets of the little village. Found an ice cream shop and Mitzi enjoyed her favorite, Maracujá (passion fruit).

Then we went to the little beach. It was great for about an hour. Then a stray dog came by and pooped about five feet away.

I smelled an odor but neither of us had seen the dog. I asked Mitzi, "Do you smell anything?" She said "yes occasionally I'm getting a whiff of sewage or something."

After minute or so we saw the dog poop and it all made sense! We had enjoyed the beach and were ready to leave. So off we went back to the ship.

Since they don't have any motorized vehicles these guys load up carts with supplies and hand deliver it to the stores and restaurants and other businesses and homes. It was interesting to see people hauling their luggage everywhere. No cars to take them around!

We liked this place. A relaxing and peaceful time. Tomorrow we arrive in busy and very populated (16M or 18M people!) Saõ Paulo.
