Honoring Joel’s Dentistry
Damon joins his siblings in SLC to celebrate his dad's career.
My dad gave a lecture at the Utah Dental Convention. He is a master teacher and has taught dentistry on and off for the last 50 years.
Every time I talk to someone who had him for a teacher they express how caring he is, how much energy and effort he gives to help the students succeed, how well he communicates, and how much they appreciate him.
Almost all my siblings were able to come to his lecture. And all of his students at the University of Utah also came.
We wanted to honor his work all these years, and also show appreciation. His work in private practice primarily, and teaching secondarily, paid for food, housing, clothes, education, trips, and all the other expenses that went in to raising us.
It takes a lot of work to raise children! He never faltered in that and his expertise in dentistry provided us a safe and comfortable life.
I had a chance to go visit Maddy and Preston in Orem during my trip.
I also got to spend some time with Heather who lives in Orem. We went out for sushi, one of our favorite activities we do together, and enjoyed the food and the conversation.
