Fortaleza, Brasil

A little shopping and eating in Fortaleza, Brasil.

Fortaleza, Brasil

We docked in Fortaleza today. We had grand plans of going to the beach, then coming back to the ship, getting dressed, then heading out to a nice restaurant.

However...

There was some kind of mix up with the buses and it took about 45 minutes waiting in the heat to get a ride to the downtown area. So by the time that all happened and we got dropped off at a nice air conditioned mall, we decided to stay at the mall.

There was a calm dog at the port that seemed tired from the heat.

The bus ride to the city center was fun. My seat back wouldn't lock so I had to grab my knees to keep the back of my chair from wacking the face of the lady who was sitting behind me. She was cool about it.

We got to the mall and I purchased a couple of screen protectors for my phone. In Belém I dropped my phone and the screen protector shattered. Luckily I had brought a backup just in case so that's on my phone now.

One more drop and I'll have to dip into this new supply haha.

Mitzi got some real Brasilian Acaí at this little stand. It was good, but not sweet, so we dropped by the Lindt store and fixed that :)

We went into a furniture store that reminded us of Ikea.

Then we ate lunch at Cabaña in the mall. Mitzi said "order for me" so I got a seafood platter (that was actually her idea!) with shrimp, lobster, and octopus. Then a shrimp and fried rice dish. And then black beans and rice – the stable Brasilian food that I came to love when I lived in Brasil.

It did not disappoint. The shrimp and rice and beans and a little sprinkling of farofa created lots of good feelings inside. It was so satisfying, exactly what I was hoping to experience.

We had a nice time in Fortaleza.
