Coquimbo, Chile
A beautiful day in Coquimbo. Invigorating walk along the beach and a tasty and beautiful meal afterward.
I did a bunch of research on this one to figure out what to do. I finally settled on getting a 30 minute Uber ride to a lighthouse, walking 4.6 kilometers along the beach in the resort part of the city, then getting a meal at a nice restaurant.
Mitzi said I did a great job as a travel agent. She also said I matched her energy! That's a big accomplishment that doesn't happen very often!
It was a very fun day. We walked out of the port and through the fresh seafood market. We couldn't believe how much fish and animals they had pulled out of the sea here. Really quite amazing.

Then we got our 30 minute ride to the old lighthouse.
There are a lot of stray dogs in Chile.
Pretty sure this is the largest real canon I've seen.

We began our walk along the beach path. We are seeing the same plants from Pajaro Dunes in Monterey California. I looked it up and yes, we are about the same latitude as Monterey, but below the equator instead of above it. We saw this in Uruguay too, very similar plan life to Monterey.
The stray dogs seem to be accepted. We saw a bunch of public dog houses like these. Along the beach path and the freeways and roads. Pretty nice!

Our ship about 15 kilometers away across the bay.
The lighthouse was in a city called La Serena.
The weather was perfect today.

Another view of our ship across the bay.
We saw thie Rodizio Grill. It looked so similar to the chain in Utah. Interesting!
After walking briskly for 4.6 kilos we got to Tololo Meat.
They had the best salmon ceviche ever. I got a 500g picanha cut steak, yum. A little bigger than I realized, 500g is a lot!

Mitzi got this nice salad.
The restrooms downstairs were really nice. These pictures are how you know which are for the men and which are for the women. Clever!

We got back to Vista about an hour before aboard. We had a pleasent and invigorating day in Coquimbo.
