Chicagoans On The Emerald Coast
Our Chicago children came down to Florida for a visit.
Spencer and Laura are a barrel of fun. After picking them up at the airport our first stop was Bubba's Pizza.
That evening we went over to the pool and enjoyed the hot tub, Spencer's antics, and Laura posing for social media pictures.
The next day we spent at the beach. In the first picture you see the birds, the beautiful water. And when you look closely two hands sticking up out of the water with peace signs. Yes, that's Spencer.
Spencer tells us a story.
I posted the picture of them kissing on my art Instagram account and people loved it.
After the beach we went to the Margaritaville restaurant in Pier Park for dinner.
Then off to desert at the Pie Shop, and enjoying our little pies on the beach as he sun set.
The next day we had breakfast at our little Cafe Aroma. Bear claws, Avocado Toast, and a breakfast bagel.
After we got home I baked our famous chocolate sour dough bread. Spencer enjoyed grabbing the Leica Q2 and playing around with it.
We share a love for photography and it's been fun to geek out over our cameras. He has a very nice digital Canon. He also bought an 80's film Canon camera and was taking pictures with it during the trip. It was so fun to see and use a vintage camera from that time period!
Spencer and Laura spent the rest of the day kayaking across Lake Powell and enjoying Camp Helen and the beach.
The next day, our last full day, I took them deep sea fishing. None of us had ever done that before. We caught about 40 fish!
Mitzi gets motion sickness so she didn't come. She was so kind to pack us with lots of yummy food which we totally enjoyed during the 5 hour trip!
In the evening we headed over to the boat house and grilled some of the fish we caught.
The next day Spencer caught me doing my core stretch. Then we had breakfast, visited some more, and then sadly drove over to the airport for their trip back to Chicago.
Spencer and Laura visiting was a joy. Wonderful conversations, great activities, and strengthened family bonds. We loved having them come play in our playground.
