Acapulco & Cabo San Lucas & Ensenada, Mexico

Three stops in Mexico that didn't turn out as expected but still had some sunny moments. Acapulco (no go), Cabo (camels!), and Ensenada (hike and photos!).

Acapulco & Cabo San Lucas & Ensenada, Mexico

Because the Mexican government killed a cartel leader a week before we got to Acapulco, it became unsafe for us to go there. We were going to do a hike but decided it would be safer to just stay on the ship.

After that we had a sea day, then a stop in Cabo San Lucas. The place where Mitzi just about lost her life on Lover's Beach getting out of a small boat 20 years ago.

Her family had hopped off quickly and left her holding all the gear. As she got out of the boat a wave came in and she lost her footing and fell into the water and got smashed in the head by the boat. Just about knocked her unconscious.

It's a tender port and our cabin had a view of Lovers Beach all day long.

We were signed up for a camel ride excursion, I was very excited to do this for the first time.

Unhappily my back went out on me the day before and I wasn't able to go. So I stayed on the ship and Mitzi went. She had a really nice time. The pictures are beautiful!

After our day at sea we arrived in Ensenada, last stop in Mexico. Mitzi headed out on her hiking excursion. While I was much improved, hiking in the mountains was not something I could do yet.

She recognized this formation of granite and basalt together, a volcanic rock. They fused together in such a perfectly straight line.

At one point they had to walk through this gate and these enormous pigs were there to great them. When she sent the picture in text I said "lunch?". We laughed.

I took a walk around the pier. My back is doing much better today. My neck is doing better to. I can't believe how painful it's been. I had to see the ships doctor a couple days ago and get some pretty strong medication to help get through it. So glad I'm on the mend, that was honestly pretty horrible.

I enjoyed the sunlight and gentle stroll. This couple was eating some food and the seagulls were very interested!

At one point in my walk I was able to be perfectly in front of our ship. This is a very rare occurrence and deserved a special picture. I carefully lined up and must say, I was perfectly in the middle. This is actually pretty hard to pull off. Even a half inch to once side or the other will misalign things.

Notice how the center posts are perfectly in the middle? That's how you know you did it. Proud moment!

We love this ship.

We are both getting off the ship in San Diego tomorrow to celebrate Benson's birthday at DisneyLand, and then to fly to Utah and spend time with Mitzi's dad who is ill.

The plan is that Mitzi will stay with him, I'll come back and join the ship in Honolulu next week. I support her doing this and am very grateful she has the freedom and flexibility to do it. I will miss her. It's been an amazing two months traveling around South America together. So many good times and fun memories.

She loves her dad and the great father he is, and it's very precious and important that she go spend time with him.

He means so much to me. I've felt a special bond to him from our first meeting in 2017. We both became widowers at a young age and understand each other. He's is alway so kind and welcoming to me. He consistently expresses gratitude for me being helpful to Mitzi and her daughters. I love him and appreciate him so much.

So with heavy hearts and love in our hearts we transition into this next phase.
